Un-aided college teachers from KBK rally for demands

The New Indian Express, Feb 23, 2008

BHUBANESWAR: Teachers of un-aided Plus Two and Plus Three colleges of KBK region on Friday took out a rally in the city demanding sanction of grant-in-aid.

Despite repeated representations and demands from the local MLAs, Government has been sitting on the issue, they said. There are 87 Plus Two and 46 Plus Three colleges which are operating in the KBK area since 1991. They are gathered under the banner of Un-aided College Teachers amd Employees KBK Forum.

In a memorandum, they said, a special discussion was held on their demands in the Assembly in 2005 and Higher Education Minister had assured action. After that, MLAs cutting across partylines have recommended, at least twice, their demands to the Government, but in vain.
